Welcome!

You’ve found me (hopefully you meant to). This is where I live. R.A. Howitt. Richard to you. Author of the Daniel King series of books.

Find out about me, Daniel King, where you can purchase my books, how to contact me, and other things.

Let’s get started…

About me

I live in Leeds with three children (my offspring, not randomly picked) and my partner (she’s my partner in other cities, too). I tried getting published when I was twenty(ish) and failed. After that, I didn’t write anything until I was in my forties. During that time I was a teacher, a tutor, and then became a headteacher. But I loved writing and couldn’t turn my back on my passion. So, when I hit forty, I quit my profession to make time for writing, and the rest is history…

Each day begins at 3:30 a.m. My happy time. That’s when Daniel King was born. As well as that, I created New2theScene after an epiphany sat on the edge of my bed. The concept was to create a community who love literature and want to help authors who haven’t had bestsellers exist - as well as indulging in their own writing passions. No hidden motives. No charging for services no one needs. The go-to place for new fiction and writing. I record a podcast interviewing authors, write a blog serialising my journey to being published, contribute to articles, run short story competitions… check it out!

Books

  • Aliens exist.

    They are a fact.

Daniel King is eleven. He has autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). More facts.

So, when Daniel sees a giant alien-not-spider in a supermarket, he refuses to return to school until he’s proved aliens are here. Now. On Earth. Facts.

Political figures are missing. CCTV footage is being erased. There’s technology humans haven’t invented. And then there’s the man in the dark-blue suit who knows everything…

Join Daniel and Dad for the first time in the series, and ask the question: can a so-called weakness be someone’s greatest asset?

  • £8.99 (£7.99 at N2tS!)

Daniel King: The Asset

Aliens exist.

Daniel King has known this for a year.

In that time, he has worked for the man who keeps the existence of aliens a secret. Because of his ability with technology that opens portals through the Universe. Because of his past success.

But when he journeys to an alien planet and their star quarterball player is poisoned, he finds himself at the centre of a mystery without the technology, without Dad, and without time to waste. Earth is threatened with war. Money and power rule. And Daniel must learn what matters most to him…

Join Daniel for the second book in the series as he journeys through worlds discovering a person’s perceived weakness can be their greatest strength.

FAQ

  • I have three children, so all the time! If you want me to visit your school, though, message me through the contact button above; it will either be a yes or a no...

  • Only at New2theScene! (for now). I know Amazon is cheaper and faster, but N2tS are supporting new or not yet familiar authors and need you to help them exist. Therefore, the books will be exclusive to them initially, and the only site to get a true first edition.

  • That depends on when you are reading this, and where on the planet you are (presuming you are on Earth).

  • I hope so. If they were, the world would be a more interesting place.

  • Again, see the question about time (above). I am writing this in 2024. When are you reading it?
